Mission BBQ, The Jeep Outpost and 1st Response Jeep Club has teamed up to organize a benefit event titled “Jeep Meet & Greet”, which will occur on Friday, January 31, 2025, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Mission BBQ, 631 N US 27/441, Lady Lake, FL. 32159.

Come out and join this unique Jeep Meet & Greet, as we invite all Jeep, Car, Truck, and Motorcycle enthusiasts and clubs to join us in supporting a Local Hometown Hero. Lake County Sheriff’s Office Detention Deputy Greg Matthews, who has been battling Stage 3 Melanoma with Recurrence. Diagnosed with Stage 2 Melanoma in June 2023, he had surgery to remove melanoma spots and a lymph node biopsy. Underwent a year of immunotherapy and on his last infusion, the doctors found three spots around the surgery area. In April 2024, he had surgery to remove those melanoma spots and was prescribed six radiation sessions, but after his sixth week, scans showed four new growths in deep tissue. IIn December 2024, Greg had his first new infusion treatment, which is a combination of two immensely powerful drugs. He will have to undergo four of these infusions and new scans. The latest infusions have been extremely hard on Greg’s body, causing him to develop high fevers and feeling very tried.

Greg is 41 years old and has been with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years and has a wife and two boys aged 13 and 11.

Mission BBQ will be donating half of their proceedings from the sale of the Hometown Hero’s Cups to this cause.
